Having reset your lifestyle, it’s time to refocus your home.

As the decades fly by, all of us go through lifestyle transitions.  In the past, the way Americans mirrored those changes was by upsizing, downsizing, and relocating our homes, with statistics showing us on the move every 12 years on average. But the cost of all that uprooting has become more substantial than ever—emotionally as well as financially today.

At MasterWerks we increasingly see homeowners who need and want to make lifestyle changes but for various reasons prefer not to move. And we’re here to say, you don’t have to! Through smart refocusing, your home can continue to serve you as your lifestyle evolves. At a price that’s typically less disruptive and costly than buying and moving to a new house.

This elegant home provides a perfect example:  The owners, now empty nesters who enjoy entertaining, had lived there for over a decade after making a substantial initial investment. They still loved their neighborhood and the way the house acted as a magnet for extended family and friends. There were also certain amenities they appreciated like the pool, boat access, and ample garage.  On the other hand, the undersized kitchen was poorly designed for their new lifestyle needs, and they turned to us for a consultation.

Rethinking the main floor quadrant, MasterWerks designed and built their expanded dream kitchen, a much more inviting, high-functioning space for cooking and entertaining smaller groups. We partially modified the dining room, enabling more natural light to flow through added window areas. And adjacent to the kitchen we reconfigured a new cozy room, ideal for watching TV, reading, and sharing quieter moments together. We also made minor upgrades to the second-floor master bedroom and laundry.

By primarily refocusing the main floor—where they do most of their living—this couple now has a home that feels completely revitalized and relevant to their new lifestyle. And it’s also worth mentioning that by staying in their home they have avoided significant financial impacts that selling would have entailed.

It takes a unique set of skills to assess financial, structural, and design feasibility, as well as building a project of this quality, and that’s what MasterWerks is known for. To learn more about how refocusing your home could serve your changing lifestyle, call us today for a candid consultation and feasibility review.
